So, my husband asked me a couple months ago if I wanted a new car. I told him I didn't need one since mine was running fine and was still in pretty darn good condition. Several weeks ago he suggested that we go look at the '09 models since it was nearing the end of the year and they were offering really good deals. I agreed to have a look. I'm not one to turn my nose up at the smell of new car leather. I like new cars. They're always so shiny. And clean. And new car leather smelling. I didn't think any more about it.
A few weeks ago he started negotiations. Then the next thing I know we were trading in the old one in for a new one. Signing on the dotted line and agreeing to 48 months of car payments. Wow. He up and bought me a new car. What's he after?
The week after the new car incident he asks if I want to go to Crate and Barrel. Now, I KNOW C&B is a pretty commercial franchise. I don't care. I LOVE C&B. If you've ever been to my house, you'd know just how much I love that store. It's a sickness. An addiction. I need help. I need gift cards.
Since we moved into this house, just over three years ago, we have always had a formal living room without any furniture. I used to joke that it held my collection of invisible home decor. It served as my gift wrapping room during Christmas season. It held boxes and other things that needed to be stored in the attic or elsewhere in the house. It was the all-purpose room.
We also only had three barstools in the game room. And some folding chairs. No other seating. It wasn't complete. It's difficult to fill a house with furniture from another house half its size. It's never been an issue. Never a deal breaker. We'd get to it when we got to it and we had a little extra money to spend on the stuff. We also wanted to find the right "stuff" to put in there.
Do I have to remind you that the hubster rented furniture for his bachelor pad? I guess he didn't want the hassle of shipping or selling it if he ever went home to England.
All this detail to tell you that we have FINALLY ordered furniture (I wanted the red, but we compromised on the "Nutmeg" color) for our ever-vacant formal living room, which we've now dubbed the Reading Room (since the "library" is already a fully-functional part of our home). We also ordered a couch, coffee table and side table (the photo actually shows the couch material and wood finish that we chose) for our game room upstairs. No more folding chairs to play video games or wait your turn at the pool table.
I must've hit the jackpot! But part of me is still wondering why he's buttering me up. LOL
What IS going on in that head of mine?? Probably just a bunch of fluff mixed in with my plans to rule the world...

- Does this really matter? Who reads this anyway? Seriously. Okay, fine. I'm probably the only Poli-pino you'll ever meet and I: like to cook up a good meal (but if given the choice I'd rather eat out); watch TV and films from here and there; love to laugh and try to do it often; hate to cry but end up doing so...and often; believe we ALL make a difference to SOMEONE at SOME POINT; love long walks on the beach, it's cheesy, I know, but I do love them especially with my family; wish I was as erudite as Stephen Fry, as cleverly comedic as (too many to name here) and as oblivious as Mr. Bean. Obviously I could go on...that's why I started the blog!

Oooooh~ sounds like I need to come over and see!
Congratulations! Pictures?
Well, since they're "custom" pieces, we are expecting to get them delivered right after Christmas. Once they are in place in the house, I'll post "real" photos!
